Paper protective wrap instead of aluminium

A change happened in the components of HEETS tobacco sticks in May 2021. The aluminium protective foil in the HEETS tobacco sticks which can be used for the IQOS device was replaced by a protective wrap made of paper.

The development has no impact on the taste and quality of HEETS tobacco sticks as the composition of the tobacco blend has not changed. The outer paper layer of the HEETS tobacco stick with the new protective wrap may discolor in some parts during use due to tobacco vapor, this can be reduced if the device is properly and regularly cleaned. The change affects all EU countries where HEETS tobacco sticks are sold, but the launch dates can be different from country to country. From May 2021, product variants with a paper protective wrap gradually appeared in Hungary, as a result, only HEETS tobacco sticks with a protective wrap made of paper are available on the market.

Cigarette smoke

The primary cause of smoking-related diseases (such as cancer and cardiovascular disease) is not nicotine, but the toxins and carcinogens present in large quantities in cigarette smoke. The cigarette must be lit before it can be smoked. Cigarettes burn at high temperatures. Burning produces harmful and potentially harmful compounds as well as cigarette smoke, ash and tar.

Tobacco vapor

PMI smoke-free products are designed for adult smokers who would otherwise continue to smoke or use other nicotine products. One of the alternatives is heat not burn products, which use tobacco heating technology. Heating produce tobacco vapor, instead of smoke.

Heating tobacco

In a cigarette, the tobacco reaches a high temperature when it’s burnt. Cigarettes burn tabacco producing ash, tar, and smoke with high number and levels of harmful chemicals. In contrast, the IQOS system is using heating technology that heats the HEETS tobacco sticks to a significantly lower temperature without burning it. The absence of combustion significantly reduces the production of harmful or potentially harmful chemicals. Switching completely to IQOS is less harmful than continuing to smoke.*

Tar

Tar is the residue from smoke after a cigarette is burned. IQOS does not produce tar because it heats tobacco instead of burning it. It generates an aerosol residue that is fundamentally different from tar and consists of significantly lower levels of harmful chemicals.* Switching completely to IQOS is less harmful than continuing to smoke.**

Important information: The absence of tar does not mean that IQOS is risk free. IQOS provides nicotine which is addictive.

Carbon monoxide

A colorless, odorless, poisonous (toxic) gas that is produced during combustion (e.g. when burning tobacco leaves).

An alternative for smoking

Heated tobacco products are alternatives for adults who would otherwise continue to use cigarette or other nicotine containing products.

One such alternative is tobacco heating technology, which heats the tobacco instead of burning it.

Harmful chemical substance produced during combustion

Harmful and potentially harmful substances generated during smoking that are inhaled by a smoker during traditional smoking. IQOS is a heated tobacco alternative, which heats tobacco instead of burning it. IQOS does not produce smoke, but rather a tobacco vaper. IQOS emits 95% less harmful chemicals compared to cigarettes.*

Important information: It does not necessarily equal a 95% reduction in risk. IQOS is not risk-free.

* “95% less” represents the average reduction in levels of the 9 chemicals recommended for reduction in cigarette smoke by the World Health Organization, which do not include nicotine. See Important Information.

Nicotine

Nicotine is a naturally occurring organic compound that is most abundant in tobacco leaves but is also found in small amounts in many other plants.

Exclusive usage

IQOS product features are valid only when a HEETS stick is used with an IQOS device. The type and amount of substances released when using our products with other devices or with other tobacco sticks is unknown.

SUP (Single-Use Plastic) markings

The legislative body of the European Union made it a requirement to place such icons on the packs of certain products for single use which contain plastic as to inform adult consumers that such products should not be littered in the environment and should be disposed of correctly to protect the environment. The regulation is applicable in all European Union Member States as of July 3rd 2021.

HEETS tobacco stick

The precisely designed HEETS tobacco stick provides a consistent tobacco taste while it’s heated with IQOS device.
The tobacco part contains carefully selected, finely ground, and specially prepared tobacco that delivers the true taste of real tobacco during heating.

The non-tobacco part of HEETS is made up of:

A cooling plug made of corn starch-based material that’s also used in the medical, food and drinks industries.
An air flow chamber that’s designed to hold the tobacco plug in place and transfer the aerosol to the cooling plug.
A protective paper wrap which helps to deliver a consistent taste experience.
A cellulose acetate filter that’s similar to the mouthpiece filter of a cigarette.

IQOS ceramic heating blade

The ceramic heating blade, coated with an alloy of gold and platinum, heats the tobacco stick from the inside to ensure the taste of real tobacco.

Capsule HEETS tobacco stick

The capsule in the HEETS Sienna Caps filter and HEETS Amelia Pearl can be snapped before or during use. In a click, a cooling menthol flavor takes over the taste, which lasts from the first puff to the last.

CAP

The CAP is part of the IQOS system. It gives the holder an upper-outer cover that can be snapped off and even replaced with a simple motion. Thorough and regular cleaning of the CAP is recommended after every 20 tobacco sticks.

Door cover - IQOS 3 DUO

The door cover is part of the IQOS 3 DUO system and it is located on the side of the pocket charger. The door covers are made of solid, sandblasted aluminum.

Holder

The holder is a major part of the IQOS tobacco heating system that is provided with a heating blade. The IQOS holder heats the HEETS tobacco stick from the inside and operates well below the temperature required for ignition.

Pocket charger

The pocket charger is part of the IQOS system. The pocket charger is responsible for charging the holder. Pocket charger parts: cover, charging port, battery level button, holder status display.

HEETS tobacco stick - Filter

An acetate filter which is already known for cigarettes.

HEETS tobacco stick- Air flow chamber

Air- flow chamber- designed to hold the tobacco plug in place and transfer the aerosol to the cooling plug.

HEETS tobacco stick - Cooling plug (PLA filter)

PLA filter has a role in cooling tobacco vapor. It is made from a corn starch-based material that is also used in the pharmaceutical and food industries or in the beverage industry.
