Paper protective wrap instead of aluminium

A change happened in the components of HEETS tobacco sticks in May 2021. The aluminium protective foil in the HEETS tobacco sticks which can be used for the IQOS device was replaced by a protective wrap made of paper.

The development has no impact on the taste and quality of HEETS tobacco sticks as the composition of the tobacco blend has not changed. The outer paper layer of the HEETS tobacco stick with the new protective wrap may discolor in some parts during use due to tobacco vapor, this can be reduced if the device is properly and regularly cleaned.

The change affects all EU countries where HEETS tobacco sticks are sold, but the launch dates can be different from country to country. From May 2021, product variants with a paper protective wrap gradually appeared in Hungary, as a result, only HEETS tobacco sticks with a protective wrap made of paper are available on the market.

Similar to HEETS tobacco sticks, TEREA and DELIA tobacco sticks also have a protective wrap and that contributes to a cleaner experience after use.

Autostart

Autostart Heating starts automatically when you insert the SMARTCORE STICKS™. Your IQOS ILUMA holder will vibrate and its lights will flash to show heating has started. When it’s ready to use, your device will vibrate once more. Autostart is already set up on your IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME device, and you can deactivate it on the IQOS app. You can also start heating manually by pressing the button on your IQOS ILUMA holder.

Harmful chemical substance produced during combustion

Harmful and potentially harmful substances generated during smoking that are inhaled by a smoker during traditional smoking. IQOS is a heated tobacco alternative, which heats tobacco instead of burning it. IQOS does not produce smoke, but rather a tobacco vaper. IQOS emits 95% less harmful chemicals compared to cigarettes.*

Important information: It does not necessarily equal a 95% reduction in risk. IQOS is not risk-free.

* “95% less” represents the average reduction in levels of the 9 chemicals recommended for reduction in cigarette smoke by the World Health Organization, which do not include nicotine. See Important Information.

CAP

The CAP is part of the previous generations of IQOS system that have heating blades. It gives the holder an upper-outer cover that can be snapped off and even replaced with a simple motion. Thorough and regular cleaning of the CAP is recommended after every 20 tobacco sticks. IQOS ILUMA devices no longer have a CAP and these devices do not require cleaning.

Cigarette smoke

The primary cause of smoking-related diseases (such as cancer and cardiovascular disease) is not nicotine, but the toxins and carcinogens present in large quantities in cigarette smoke. The cigarette must be lit before it can be smoked. Cigarettes burn at high temperatures. Burning produces harmful and potentially harmful compounds as well as cigarette smoke, ash and tar.

An alternative for smoking

Heated tobacco products are alternatives for adults who would otherwise continue to use cigarette or other nicotine containing products. One such alternative is tobacco heating technology, which heats the tobacco instead of burning it.

DELIA tobacco sticks

DELIA is designed to be used exclusively with IQOS ILUMA.

DELIA Unwrapped:

Protective Wrap: Our new protective wrap contributes to a cleaner experience after use.

Cooling Plug: Cools down the aerosol temperature. It is made of cellulose acetate, which delivers the best cooling efficiency yet.

Tobacco vapor

PMI smoke-free products are designed for adult smokers who would otherwise continue to smoke or use other nicotine products. One of the alternatives is heat not burn products, which use tobacco heating technology. Heating produce tobacco vapor, instead of smoke.

Heating tobacco

In a cigarette, the tobacco reaches a high temperature when it’s burnt. Cigarettes burn tabacco producing ash, tar, and smoke with high number and levels of harmful chemicals. In contrast, the IQOS system is using heating technology that heats the TEREA, DELIA and HEETS tobacco sticks to a significantly lower temperature without burning it. The absence of combustion significantly reduces the production of harmful or potentially harmful chemicals. Switching completely to IQOS is less harmful than continuing to smoke.*

HEETS tobacco stick

The precisely designed HEETS tobacco stick provides a consistent tobacco taste while it’s heated with IQOS device.

The tobacco part contains carefully selected, finely ground, and specially prepared tobacco that delivers the true taste of real tobacco during heating.

The non-tobacco part of HEETS is made up of:

A cooling plug made of corn starch-based material that’s also used in the medical, food and drinks industries.

An air flow chamber that’s designed to hold the tobacco plug in place and transfer the aerosol to the cooling plug.

A protective paper wrap which helps to deliver a consistent taste experience.

A cellulose acetate filter that’s similar to the mouthpiece filter of a cigarette.

Heating technology – HeatControl technology

IQOS HeatControl™ Technology heats tobacco to a lower temperature than cigarettes, ensuring that combustion does not occur.

Induction technology - SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™

IQOS ILUMA’s new SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ is completely bladeless, with easy tobacco stick insertion. Instead of burning it, the metal heating element heats the tobacco from within the TEREA stick, using induction.

Holder

The holder is a major part of the IQOS tobacco heating system that is provided with a heating blade. The IQOS holder heats the HEETS tobacco stick from the inside and operates well below the temperature required for ignition.

IQOS ILUMA

The technology of IQOS ILUMA is taking heated tobacco to the next level. The all-new IQOS ILUMA with TEREA introduces the new technology of tobacco heating. The sanitary and hygienic product features of IQOS ILUMA is only valid completely, if you do not smoke cigarettes alongside.

IQOS ceramic heating blade

The ceramic heating blade, coated with an alloy of gold and platinum, heats the tobacco stick from the inside to ensure the taste of real tobacco. The IQOS ceramic heating blade is found in previous generations of IQOS devices, such as the IQOS 3 DUO.

IQOS Door cover

The door cover is part of the IQOS system and it is located on the side of the pocket charger.The pocket charger of IOQS ILUMA devices can be easily customized with different door covers.
IMPORTANT: The availability of accessories for the IQOS device depends on current stocks of tobacco store.

IQOS pocket charger

The IQOS pocket charger is part of the IQOS system. The pocket charger is responsible for charging the holder. Pocket charger parts: door cover, charging port, battery level button, holder status display.

Capsule TEREA tobacco stick / Capsule HEETS tobacco stick / capsule

The capsule in the HEETS Sienna Caps filter and HEETS Amelia Pearl and in the TEREA BRIZA PEARL, TEREA Amelia Pearl, TEREA Abora Pearl és TEREA Twilight Pearl can be snapped before or during use. In a click, a cooling menthol flavor takes over the taste, which lasts from the first puff to the last.

Tar

Tar is the residue from smoke after a cigarette is burned. IQOS does not produce tar because it heats tobacco instead of burning it. It generates an aerosol residue that is fundamentally different from tar and consists of significantly lower levels of harmful chemicals.*

Switching completely to IQOS is less harmful than continuing to smoke.**

Important information: The absence of tar does not mean that IQOS is risk free. IQOS provides nicotine which is addictive.

Exclusive usage

IQOS product features are valid only when a HEETS stick tobacco sticks designed for IQOS is used with an IQOS device. HEETS tobacco sticks are designed for IQOS devices with a heating blade, while SMARTCORE STICKS™ (TEREA, DELIA) are designed for IQOS ILUMA devices. The type and amount of substances released when using our products with other devices or with other tobacco sticks is unknown.

Nicotine

Nicotine is a naturally occurring organic compound that is most abundant in tobacco leaves but is also found in small amounts in many other plants.

The tobacco sticks produced for IQOS are not nicotine-free. The TEREA, DELIA and HEETS tobacco sticks contain nicotine, which is addictive.

SUP (Single-Use Plastic) markings

The legislative body of the European Union made it a requirement to place such icons on the packs of certain products for single use which contain plastic as to inform adult consumers that such products should not be littered in the environment and should be disposed of correctly to protect the environment. The regulation is applicable in all European Union Member States as of July 3rd 2021.

Carbon monoxide

A colorless, odorless, poisonous (toxic) gas that is produced during combustion (e.g. when burning tobacco leaves).
