What is the IQOS ILUMA i?


IQOS ILUMA i is one of the new heating device in the latest IQOS ILUMA series, IQOS ILUMA i. The range offers a more flexible usage compared to previous IQOS generations. The IQOS ILUMA i is easy to use, introducing various new and advanced features.  


Like all other IQOS ILUMA devices, it uses the expertly designed and precisely engineered SMARTCORE INDUCTION™ system. This bladeless technology heats the sticks using induction system, and resulting clean and simple use.

Features of the IQOS ILUMA i


IQOS ILUMA i introduces 3 new advanced features and a Touch Screen, in addition to functions existing in previous models. Let's take a closer look at the new features:  


Touch Screen


A completely new user interface available in the IQOS ILUMA i and IQOS ILUMA i PRIME, the Touch Screen. The Touch Screen allows you to quickly and easily find all the information related to usage in one place:  


  • The time left of the use ​  

  • The number of available uses (two dashes for up to 3 uses and 1 dash for one use) ​  

  • The pre-heating status (duration and completion)  


FlexPuff


FlexPuff is a feature available in all devices from the IOQS ILUMA i range. This action occurs automatically, meaning no action is required from you. When the FlexPuff feature is active, the device will analyse whether the stick has been fully consumed as the usage comes to an end. If the stick is not fully consumed, it may provide 4 extra puffs*. ​With this feature, FlexPuff provides a more customised and flexible use than before.   


*FlexPuff is designed to work with tobacco sticks. Activation and the number of puffs depends on individual usage patterns, thus extra puffs might not apply to all adult consumers and/or uses. FlexPuff does not activate when pause is used.​​  


FlexBattery


FlexBattery is an adaptive feature that that allows you to customize the holder’s battery. This feature enables you to use your holder in one of two modes: 


Performance Mode - This is the default mode. It enables 2 consecutive uses of up to 6 minutes, each with 1 Pause available. Alternatively, you can experience 3 consecutive uses of up to 6 minutes each, without a pause. 


Eco Mode - You can set your IQOS ILUMA i to this mode using the IQOS App. In this mode, the Holder will be set for a single use only, lasting up to 6 minutes. Pause Mode is not available in Eco Mode. Doing so prolongs the lifespan of the Holder battery by up to one year.** 


**Only when fully used on Eco Mode throughout the lifespan of the holder and may vary depending on personal consumption.  


Pause Mode


Need to pick up the phone in the middle of your IQOS use? Pause Mode allows you to pause your use for up to 8 minutes, and then resume it.** The use must be reactivated within 8 minutes, or the Holder will automatically switch off to end the use. This allows flexibility over your device use.  


**Only available in Performance Mode, during the first 3 minutes or 8 puffs of the use. When Pause is activated, Performance Mode gives adult users up to two consecutive uses and Pause is available only for one of them.​  


Autostart/Autostop


Autostart and Autostop are features available in older generations of the IQOS ILUMA range as well as the IQOS ILUMA i. Autostart means that when a SMARTCORE STICKS™ is inserted into the IQOS ILUMA i, preheating will start automatically. Autostop means that if the SMARTCORE STICKS™ is removed from the IQOS ILUMA i Holder, the use will stop.  


Device Lock


You can unlock or lock your device through the IQOS App. This prevents others from accessing your device.

A Breakdown of the Touch Screen Symbols


The Touch Screen is a helpful feature that communicates important information about your use. Here are the key signals to pay attention to:  


Preheating


Preheating will begin automatically and takes 20 seconds on average. This process will be indicated by 1 vibration, followed by the LEDs lighting up from the bottom of the circle and all the way to the top, in both directions.


Number of uses


The number of available uses will be indicated via the Touch Screen in the following ways:  


  • 2 horizontal dashes indicate 2 available uses (enough for two or three uses).  

  • 1 horizontal dash indicates 1 available use.   

  • 1 horizontal dash after the use indicates that you can have a use   

  • Number “0” indicates that your battery is depleted and no use is available. Please recharge your Holder if this is displayed.


What’s in the Box?


Here's what you can look forward to when unboxing your device:  


  • Holder: The main component for heating the SMARTCORE STICKS. 

  • Pocket Charger: Used to charge the Holder. The Pocket Charger is portable, so the IQOS ILUMA i holder can be charged anywhere.  

  • Charging Cable: For charging the Pocket Charger, so that the device can be used on-the-go.  


Together, the Holder and Pocket Charger form the core of your IQOS ILUMA i device. The Pocket Charger powers the Holder, which heats the SMARTCORE STICKS™ without burning them. The IQOS ILUMA i device box does not include the power adapter. 


IQOS ILUMA i Colours


IQOS ILUMA i is offered in 5 special colours. These include Breeze Blue, Leaf Green, Digital Violet, Vivid Terracotta and Midnight Black (left to right).



Which Consumables Can I Use With the IQOS ILUMA i?


The new IQOS ILUMA i is compatible with SMARTCORE STICKS™, which include TEREA, DELIA and LEVIA.


IQOS ILUMA™ is designed to be used only with SMARTCORE STICKS™. Do not use IQOS ILUMA and SMARTCORE STICKS™ with previous IQOS generations, as this may cause damage to your device. Do not ingest or disassemble SMARTCORE STICKS™. This product contains a sharp metal part which can cause serious injury if swallowed. Keep out of reach of children and pets.     Tobacco and Nicotine

  • Tobacco sticks used with IQOS contain nicotine, which is addictive.
  • IQOS is not risk-free. The best way to reduce tobacco- and nicotine-related health risks is to quit tobacco and nicotine use altogether.
  • Some users of nicotine-containing products may experience abdominal pain, chest pain, choking sensation, cough, difficulty breathing, dizziness, dry mouth, dry throat, gingivitis, headache, malaise, nasal stuffiness, nausea, mouth irritation, palpitations, throat irritation, and vomiting.
  • Nicotine-containing products should not be used by people who have or are at risk of heart disease, are diabetic, are epileptic, or are experiencing seizures.
  • Nicotine-containing products should not be used during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, or think you may be pregnant, you should quit tobacco and nicotine use altogether.
  • Stopping smoking or switching to IQOS and its respective tobacco sticks, or other nicotine-containing products may require the adjustment of the dosing of certain medicines (e.g. theophylline, clozapine, ropinirole).

    Battery Degradation

    IQOS devices, including holders, contain a lithium-ion battery. The lithium-ion battery in the devices is a consumable component that degrades with usage and age. This is a natural process common to all rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. As the battery ages, the active ingredients inside the battery become less capable of retaining energy, resulting in a permanent decrease in maximum battery capacity and usable energy. In addition, the active ingredients become less effective in delivering energy, resulting in a decrease of the battery’s ability to provide sufficient power for electronic device components to operate. As a result, where relevant, the duration of experience may appear to be shorter, the number of puffs or experiences with one full charge may appear to be fewer, the second consecutive use might be shorter or missing, or some device features, such as Autostart or double tap for the IQOS ILUMA holder, may not perform.

    The battery is a chemical system that requires certain temperature ranges during charge and discharge to work optimally and minimize battery capacity degradation over its lifetime. Although your device has a specific operating range within which the device will function, operating at the extreme ends of this range will degrade your battery faster. Your device comes with customized software to control the charging parameters in order to maximize the life of your device. These algorithms can support the longevity of your battery life, but they can still never fully mitigate the normal aging mechanisms of lithium batteries. High and low temperature operation of your device will accelerate the natural degradation of your battery. Even if you do not use your device the batteries contain chemical systems which can still degrade over time. In order to slow the battery degradation process, we recommend charging your device within the recommended temperature zone, not keeping it discharged for long periods of time and using the charging cables and power adaptors that come together with the device as per the user guides.

    Cigarettes produce high amounts of carbon monoxide - IQOS doesn’t Cigarettes burn tobacco, which produces high amounts of carbon monoxide. IQOS doesn’t burn tobacco, producing on average 98% less carbon monoxide (CO) and significantly lower levels of other harmful chemicals compared to cigarettes.*
