IQOS ILUMA i PRIME is the new generation of IQOS ILUMA devices.

It offers a range of advanced features for seamless and more flexible usage than before.
It is equipped with the new Touch Screen so that you can quickly get see the information about your usage:
  • pre-heating status (duration, completion),
  • time left for your usage,
  • number of available usages (one or two).


  • You can also have additional new advanced features to adapt your usage to your usage:
  • Have up to 3 consecutive uses (only available in Performance Mode when pause is not activated).
  • Pause your usage with Pause Mode feature.

    Yes, you can use the AC power adaptor from the previous generation IQOS devices (IQOS 3, IQOS 3 DUO, IQOS 3 MULTI, IQOS ORIGINALS DUO & ONE, IQOS ILUMA).

    In order to reduce electronic waste and our carbon footprint, the device does not come with an adaptor. It is now sold separately.
    For safe use and optimal charging you have three options:
    1. use the AC power adaptor from the previous IQOS devices (IQOS 3, IQOS 3 DUO, IQOS 3 MULTI, IQOS ORIGINALS DUO & ONE, IQOS ILUMA).
    2. You can buy an adaptor separately in specific tobacco shops that sell IQOS devices. For availability, ask IQOS Customer Service for help.
    3. use a 3rd party Certified AC power adaptor (5V 2A with the safety certification mark – widely available in major convenience stores) .
    Regardless the option, ensure that the USB port of the device is clean and does not have dirt, particles or dust in it.

    If you use a 3rd party Certified AC power adaptor, ensure it:
    • supplies 10W (5V 2A - 5 Volts 2 Ampers. Indicated on the packaging on the AC power adaptor itself).
    • has the safety certification mark (it is indicated on the AC power adaptor by CE conformity symbol).
    • is compatible with the IQOS cable (type C)
    • is not using lower power. It will increase the charging time, may cause unproper charging, malfunction or may pose safety risks.
    Depending on the used model of the AC power adaptor, the pocket charger may take up to 15 minutes before a light pattern appears.

    Risks using a 3rd party AC power adaptors:
    Damages caused by 3rd party certified accessories (including AC power adopter and charging cable) are not covered by the manufacturer warranty.
    If you use a 3rd party charging cable, ensure it:
    • is designed to deliver up to 2 Ampers
    • has the safety certification mark (it is indicated by CE conformity symbol).

    FlexPuff is an advanced feature of IQOS ILUMA i devices that enables a more flexible usage than before.
    Depending on the way you puff, FlexPuff adapts to you and may provide 4 extra puffs without charging the holder (within the use time of up to 6 minutes and on top of 14 puffs).
    FlexPuff is designed to work with tobacco sticks. FlexPuff activation and number of puffs depend on individual usage patterns. Thus, extra puffs might not apply to all adult consumers and/or every experience.
    No action is required from you since the system analyses your usage automatically.
    Note that if you use the Pause Mode feature, Flexpuff will not work during that usage.

    How it works:
    1. Towards the end of the usage, your device will analyse if the stick is fully consumed or not.
    2. If the stick is not fully consumed, 4 extra puffs will be automatically added to your usage, and the Touch Screen will indicate it.
    3. Light ring will extend in counterclockwise direction to 9 o’clock position.
    4. Then the Touch Screen will indicate when the additional puff is nearly completed.

    Pause Mode is an advanced feature of IQOS ILUMA i PRIME and IQOS ILUMA i devices that enables to pause your usage for up to 8 minutes, and resume it.
    If you do not re-activate your usage within 8 minutes, the holder will automatically switch off and the usage will end.
    Use Touch Screen to see if Pause Mode is available:
    • In Performance Mode, during the first 3 minutes or 8 puffs of the usage.
    • For one of the two consecutive uses in Performance Mode (default setting).

    How to use Pause Mode:
    1. Swipe down your finger across the entire Touch Screen to pause. A vibration will indicate when the pause starts.
    2. During the pause, the LEDs on the Touch Screen will fade out one by one (counter clockwise) from 12 o'clock position as the pause duration counts down.
    3. If usage is not resumed within 8 minutes, the holder will turn off. 1 vibration will indicate when the pause is close to the end.
    4. Swipe up your finger across the entire Touch Screen to resume the usage. Note that when Pause Mode is activated, the usage is limited to 14 puffs (including all puffs before and after the pause).
    5. After the usage is resumed, the preheating will take on average 20 seconds – the Touch Screen will be showing light completing its round.
    6. Vibration and light guide will indicate that the holder is ready for use.

    FlexBattery is an advanced feature of IQOS ILUMA i PRIME and IQOS ILUMA i devices that enables to use your holder battery either in Performance Mode or in Eco Mode.
    Your device is set up in Performance Mode by default, but you can change it to Eco Mode through IQOS App.

    Performance Mode (default):
    2 consecutive uses up to 6min each with 1 pause for one of them, or up to 3 consecutive uses up to 6min each without pause.

    Note: the screen will not show the 3rd available usage. After the 2nd usage, the screen will show one more available usage (one dash). When no more usages are available, the screen will indicate the number “0”.

    Eco Mode (to be activated in IQOS App):
    Increases the lifespan of the holder battery by up to one year (only when fully used on Eco Mode throughout the lifespan of the holder and may vary depending on personal consumption).
    Your holder will be set for a single use only, lasting up to 6 minutes.
    Pause Mode is not available in this mode.
    This battery mode shall be set through the IQOS app.

    There are two LED intensity levels of your Touch Screen: ‘High’ and ‘Low’ - for IQOS ILUMA i PRIME and IQOS ILUMA i devices.
    To change the LED intensity, tap five times on the Touch Screen. Your LED intensity level changes in between 100% (High) & 30% (Low).
    You can also select your light intensity in the IQOS app device settings, under the Illumination Mode feature

    Briefly press the Touch Screen:
    Two horizontal dashes indicate 2 available usages
    One horizontal dash indicates 1 available usage.
    One horizontal dash after the 2nd usage indicates that you can have a 3rd usage available.
    Number “0” indicates that your battery is depleted. No usage available. Please charge your holder.

    1. Turn ON the device - press and hold pocket charger button for 4 seconds, then release; pocket charger status lights and holder status lights will turn ON slowly.

    2. Insert holder into pocket charger, and close wrap to charge. Holder status light will show holder battery level.

    3. Insert the SMARTCORE STICKS™ to the line on the filter until holder vibrates.

    4. Preheating starts automatically (AutoStart), or by swiping up on Touch Screen. Touch Screen will show preheating status (app. 20 sec).

    5. 2nd vibration - you can start using.

    6. Countdown light on the Touch Screen will indicate the remaining time of the usage.

    7. Nearly Complete - to signal last 30 seconds or last 2 puffs, holder will vibrate.

    8. Remove used SMARTCORE STICKS™ and dispose as per Safety Warnings and Instructions.

    9. Insert holder into pocket charger to recharge.

    Each feature on your device has its own display.

    For instance, when your tobacco stick is preheating which occurs automatically (AutoStart), or after swiping up on the Touch Screen, your device will vibrate and show a light ring extending counterclockwise.

    Meanwhile, when your device is in Pause Mode, the screen will display two upper vertical dashes with the light ring extending counterclockwise.

    During the pause, the LEDs on the Touch Screen will fade out one by one (counterclockwise) from 12pm position as the pause duration count down.

    When it comes to the Performance Mode which is enabled by default, you’ll see two horizontal dashes with the light ring extending counterclockwise.

    However, the single horizontal dash in the center with the light ring extending counterclockwise indicates the Eco Mode is activated.

    Before the first use, fully charge the pocket charger with a compatible AC power adaptor (5V, 2A, Type C output) and C-type charging cable from an electrical outlet.

  • A full charge takes approx. 135 min (2h 15 min).
  • You can charge the IQOS ILUMA i pocket charger with or without the holder inserted.
  • It can take up to 10 minutes to fully charge the holder for the first time (after opening the packaging) or after a long period of inactivity. This is normal.
  • IQOS ILUMA i pocket charger does not require a full charge to work, however we recommend to fully charge it before the first use.
  • To charge your holder, insert the holder into pocket charger, and close the wrap to charge. The holder status light will show the holder battery level.

    There may be several reasons for the issue when charging the IQOS ILUMA i PRIME:

    Faulty charging cable or adaptor:
    Often, the simplest explanation is the correct one. A damaged or incompatible charging cable or adaptor can cause charging issues.

    The holder charges slowly:
    Slow charging can be a symptom of a depleted battery, incorrect power source, or even software glitch. This is indicated by three blinking white lights on the Pocket Charger.

    Overheating during charging:
    Overheating can occur due to prolonged charging, using an incompatible charger, or faulty hardware.

    Device not charging at all:
    A device that isn’t charging may be experiencing issues like a broken charger, internal battery problems, dirty charging USB-C ports, damage to the charging cable or AC Power Adaptor.

    Battery drains quickly:
    Something as simple as usage habits or device setting could cause your device battery to drain quickly.

    If you’re facing charging issues with your IQOS ILUMA i PRIME, use these steps to troubleshoot the issues:

    Check the charger and cable:
    Ensure you are using the original charger and cable provided by IQOS. If you suspect they might be faulty, try using another compatible charger and AC Power Adaptor. Learn more here: Why is AC power adaptor not sold with the device? What AC power adaptor to use?

    Clean the charging contacts:
    Dust and debris can accumulate in the charging port, obstructing the connection. Unplug the Pocket Charger and ensure that the charging ports on both the Pocket Charger and the charging cable are clean and free of dirt.

    Reset the device:
    Sometimes, resetting the device can help resolve minor glitches. Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.

    Update the firmware:
    Regularly check for firmware updates through the IQOS app. Updating to the latest firmware can resolve software-related charging issues. Learn more on how to update your firmware at our page.

    Sufficient charge:
    Ensure that the Pocket Charger is sufficiently charged with the compatible charging cable and AC Power Adaptor (until 1 light turns solid white). 15min of charge should be sufficient for the yellow light to turn white.

    Maintaining an optimal temperature:
    Make sure to keep your device at an optimal temperature range (0 – 40°C).
